Modernising The Core Without Disruption
Every organisation has a core, the platforms that quietly run the business while everything around them changes. Over time, that core becomes a patchwork of workarounds, integrations, and “temporary” fixes that turned permanent. The problem is not that the core is old, it’s that change becomes slow, risky, and expensive, and the business starts paying an invisible tax on every new product, regulation, or incident.
Then comes the uncomfortable question: are we modernising the core, or are we just rearranging dependencies while complexity keeps compounding? And if we introduce AI-assisted engineering to speed up analysis, refactoring, and testing, do we actually reduce risk, or do we create a new class of uncertainty and audit challenges?
In this round table we’ll compare real decision paths, replace vs wrap vs rebuild, how to sequence value, what to standardise, what to leave alone, and how to prove quality when acceleration tools are involved. Expect practical war stories, not theory.
We’ll use the peer exchange to benchmark approaches, challenge assumptions, and project together what “credible core modernisation” looks like for 2026 and beyond.
