At CIO CITY the CIONET community celebrated the 21 finalists of this year's European CIO of the Year award. Since all the finalists substantially contributed to the success of their organisation, the jury of the award had to make a tough choice. The winners were announced at the evening dinner of the congress:
Phil Jordan, Global CIO of Telefonica, European CIO of the Year, Global responsibility
After careful consideration the jury has decided to grant this award to an IT leader who is consistently regarded as a key influencer by his peers. As a true visionary he has led the business transformation of his company through a tremendous amount of global initiatives.
Sergio Garcia Cebolla, CIO, HM Hospitales, Regional responsibility
The jury has chosen to give this award to a professional who has demonstrated true leadership in collaborating with peers across the organisation in order to provide new added value services to its clients and maximise the customer experience.
Jordi Escalé, CIO, Government of Catalunya, Public Sector
The jury has chosen to grant this award to a professional who radically transformed public services with the use of new technology, providing more efficient services to the public while in the meantime reducing costs and generating new revenue.
Congratulations to all the finalists and the three winners. We look forward to welcome the candidates for next year's award!
A big thanks to the sponsor of the European CIO of the Year Award:
