Mobile computing and the surrounding ecosystem is a major growth industry and a fascinating IT trend. 5 years ago, mobile meant making phone calls with a GSM and accessing the internet on a laptop. Today, mobile computing means something completely different, thanks to the current smartphones, the Iphone, Google’s Android, the iPad and other tablets.

More people then ever before are working via mobile devices and connections. Mobile devices are increasingly being used for applications traditionally executed on a desktop. There has been a tremendous development of mobile applications, services and cloud infrastructures. These efforts deliver new services to employees, business partners, consumers, and citizens on any device, anytime, anywhere.

On 28/04 CIOnet Belgium organises an afternoon event where we will study the opportunities and challenges that mobile computing bring to CIOs and IT directors. Topics covered include:
- What is the impact of mobile on enterprise computing?
- How do we integrate media tablets & mobile apps in our business processes?
- Do we implement strict standards or a "bring your own device" strategy?
- How about security & cost aspects?
- Which mobile applications do we implement first?

Speakers include: Ulrik Van Schepdael of mobco, who will give us a general overview of the market trends, followed by 3 business cases: Kalman Tiboldi of TVH, Daniel Lebeau of GSK Biologicals and Marc Wijnants of Bank J. Van Breda & Co. We will end with an interactive debate moderated by Johan Vandewalle of ACV.

CIOnet members can register online here.
