INSEAD & CIOnet proudly present the report: IT-Enabled Leadership
This report presents results from an in-depth study which surveyed 130 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from seven European countries and interviewed 14 of Europe’s most effective CIOs (as judged by their peers). The report identifies three types of IT-enabled leaders who are helping a wide variety of organizations be more competitive and create more value: Technology-driven CIOs; Business process-driven CIOs, and Client-driven CIOs.
The survey data show that CIOs and their IT Groups are engaged in several key activities beyond simply managing ICT services. In addition, over the next three years, many CIOs and their IT Groups anticipate their strategic roles will change significantly. The 14 profiles highlight a variety of ways the all three types of IT-enabled leaders are effectively working with non-IT colleagues to manage business processes and expand their organization’s capacity to innovate. As a whole, the report’s findings offer insights into how organizations are creating strategic value from IT and highlight the importance of fostering IT-enabled leaders. They suggest that any organization that does not strive to have at least one of the three types of IT-enabled leaders is failing to pursue important opportunities to create value and be competitive in today’s increasingly interdependent and dynamic global economy.
