CIO agendas are crowded: cost pressure, cyber, regulation, talent, data, AI, vendor dependency, business expectations. Most organisations are trying to do too much at once, and the “must-do” work often blocks the strategic work. CIONET only creates value if its agenda matches what CIOs truly need, in the right format, at the right time. The challenge Pick the few priorities that matter most for 2027, then translate them into a clear CIONET agenda. Outcome we leave with A ranked CIO agenda for 2027, and a directly aligned CIONET programme outline (themes, formats, cadence), with a shortlist of speaker and case targets.

How to align people, shift routines, and prove value Technology transformations often fail not because the tools don’t work, but because people don’t change their work habits. Boards want proof of value, executives want business outcomes, IT wants clarity, and employees want ease. Between these expectations, the CIO’s role is no longer just to deliver platforms; it is to tell the story that motivates people and turn that story into daily habits. This session will explore: The narrative: how to craft a simple, repeatable story that explains the “why” behind change for every stakeholder. From story to routine: practical ways to embed new behaviours through manager rituals, team incentives, and visible leadership. Reskilling and new expectations: preparing teams for evolving roles, from cross-department collaboration to AI-enhanced workflows. Measuring what matters: showing progress in speed, quality, and resilience — not just in licences bought or trainings completed. The aim is to equip CIOs with a leadership toolkit: a story that unites, habits that endure, and proof that convinces even the toughest boardroom.

The AI architect role is becoming more visible, and the scope varies across organisations. The challenge is defining what the role owns, where it sits, and how it works with existing architecture, data, security, risk, and business teams. Three pressure points need clarity. - Role definition matters because the position can span solution architecture, data architecture, governance, integration, security, vendor selection, and business process design. - Interfaces matter because the role must connect teams while respecting existing responsibilities. - Skills matter because technical depth needs to be combined with judgement around controls, delivery choices, and operational boundaries. The working question is simple: how do we define the AI architect role so it becomes useful, credible, and connected to delivery? If this role is emerging in your organisation, let’s compare how others are defining it and where they are placing it.

Delivering visibility, control, and simplified security to Bathgate Group
Delivering visibility, control, and simplified security to Bathgate Group
OVERVIEW
The Bathgate Group has been delivering excellence to customers across a range of products and services for over 50 years. The Cheshire-headquartered firm is now comprised of four companies—producing high quality silica sand, delivering B2B finance, as well as road haulage services. It’s also one of the largest raised access floor manufacturers in Europe.
Managing IT for such a diverse organization comes with its own distinct set of challenges, as Group IT Manager, Chris Snape, knows well. He was brought in to consolidate and streamline the environment around 18 months ago and made cybersecurity a priority. Trend Micro Worry-Free Services Advanced, delivered from the Vodafone Business Marketplace, already had a huge impact—saving significant IT time and money while minimizing the company’s risk exposure.
"Trend Micro does what it says on the tin. It’s worry-free security which lets me get on with day-to-day tasks and other projects. [Trend Micro Worry-Free] massively reduced the number of man hours we spend on security management, and if anything needs doing hands on, it can be done from the dashboard."
Chris Snape - Group IT Manager, Bathgate Group
CHALLENGES
Bathgate’s 200 endpoints include 50 mobile devices used by the company’s delivery drivers. Combined with employees’ corporate email accounts and Microsoft 365 productivity applications, they represented a sizeable attack surface for IT to protect. The brief was to simplify endpoint and email security for Bathgate without sacrificing quality.
“When I came in, all our endpoints were individually configured and running different versions [of security software]. Plus, there was no centralized reporting, so if something happened there was no way of easily finding out,” says Chris. “What I wanted for the group was something that could be managed centrally and rely on to work by itself in the background. But also, a product that we could configure with exceptions and business rules.”
WHY TREND
Chris was introduced to Vodafone Business, who recommended Trend Micro Worry-Free Services Advanced delivered from their Business Marketplace portal. The product offers powerful protection for endpoints, cloud apps, and email from a single solution:
SOLUTION
Accessing the solution from the Vodafone Marketplace portal multiplied the value for Chris by simplifying the supply chain and consolidating support with a single provider. “Trend Micro was introduced to us as an all-in-one solution well managed through the Vodafone Marketplace portal and at the right price point,” explains Chris.
RESULTS
The combined offering delivers powerful protection across email and endpoints, while streamlining security and offering enhanced control, according to Chris. A recent incident in which an external email was hijacked and tried to send malicious emails to employees, was detected and mitigated by Trend Micro.
“I could see via the dashboard what happened and called them to make sure they changed their password. After the first few [spam] emails came in the product learned and started to quarantine them. Inboxes get pretty much no spam at all now,” Chris explains.
WHAT'S NEXT
Bathgate have been so pleased with the way Trend Micro and Vodafone Business have performed over the past year; they’ve decided to sign up for another year without shortlisting any competitors.
