Last week, our CIONET Netherlands Advisory Board had the honour of being hosted by RTL Netherlands. We were warmly welcomed by Dutch CIONET Advisory Board member Giovanni Piccirilli, Chief Technology Officer of RTL, and his team. This exclusive visit gave us the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at one of the largest media companies in the Netherlands and gain insight into how technology is playing an increasingly important role in the media sector.
The program began with a warm welcome by Giovanni, and the Head of Data & AI, Daan Odijk. They gave an in-depth presentation on the technological innovations taking place within RTL, with a strong focus on the role of Data and AI. It was particularly interesting to hear how RTL uses data analytics and artificial intelligence to personalize viewing experiences, analyze viewer behavior, and predict trends. These technologies enable RTL to better understand the preferences of their audience and respond to changes in the media landscape.
In addition, Giovanni explained how RTL is addressing broader developments within the IT landscape. Alongside Data and AI, cloud technology, cybersecurity, and digital transformation are also crucial to RTL’s strategy. The company continues to invest in innovative technologies to not only improve efficiency but also to stay at the forefront of innovation in a highly competitive and rapidly changing market. These developments also impact the way RTL produces and distributes content, with digitalization playing a central role in the company’s future strategy.
What especially inspired us was the forward-thinking approach of Giovanni and his team. RTL is not standing still and is constantly working on the next step, from technological improvements to adapting to changing media consumption habits. The combination of technological innovation and a clear vision of the future makes RTL a pioneer in the Dutch media sector.
The visit to RTL Netherlands was not only an informative session but also a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from the innovative approach of a major media company.
