CIONET is pleased to announce that the results from the most recent research on "e-Skills in Europe", co-promoted by CIONET and funded by the European Commission (DG Enterprise and Industry), indicate a potential for more than half a million unfilled new jobs for ICT practitioners by 2015 in Europe. Already at the European e-Skills Conference on 10 December 2013, which gathered over 300 experts on the topic and where the preliminary results of this research were discussed. The conclusion drawn was that Europe is on the right track but still a lot needs to be done especially at national Member State level to ensure that the knowledge, skills and competences of the European workforce meet the highest world standards and are constantly updated in a process of effective lifelong learning.
