Artur Loureiro (Portugal) is CIO at Sonae S.A. and Executive Board Member of Modelo Continente; Sonae SR and President of Finco (Goup’s Forum for IT & Telecommunications).
He has over 30 years’ experience in IT, including 20 years in the Sonae Group (formerly CIO of Optimus, Executive Director of Novis, Delegate Director of Sonae Rede de Dados and Head of Information Systems - Infrastructures of Modelo Continente), where he has enabled many process changes in the Telecommunications and Retail Divisions.
With a degree in Information Systems Enginering from WITS University (South Africa), he has attended Information Systems Executive Programs at the Harvard Business School and in Marketing Management and Services Management at the Insead Business School, and also holds a Pocket MBA from Boston University.
Artur Loureiro has launched major technology projects such as new food eCommerce site (launch in Mar. '13), new electronics eCommerce site based on the Cloud (launched in Jan. '13), Security, Virtualization (storage & servers), Disaster recovery, Information management, Self-checkouts, Self-service checkout, new partnerships in Loyalty Card Program (more than 3 million customers and over 90% penetration).
