About

THE CIO ROLE IS CHANGING

Technology is no longer confined to IT. It shapes products, customer experiences, operations, risk management, and growth. Increasingly, technology is not simply supporting the business; it is becoming the business.

As a result, today's CIO is no longer measured solely by the systems they run, but by the decisions they help shape.
How do you guide AI from experimentation to trusted adoption? How do you balance efficiency, resilience, sovereignty, and corporate values in sourcing decisions? How do you translate financial discipline into technology investments that create long-term business value?
These are no longer purely technology questions. They sit at the intersection of business strategy, risk, finance, operations, and people.
The modern CIO must navigate competing priorities, align diverse stakeholders, and make decisions that often carry implications far beyond the IT function.

Together, we will explore questions such as:
• What does responsible and trusted AI adoption look like in practice?
• How are sourcing strategies evolving in a world increasingly focused on resilience, security, and strategic autonomy?
• How can CIOs balance cost discipline with the need to invest in innovation and future growth?
• Which leadership capabilities are becoming most critical as technology decisions become business decisions?
• How has the CIO role changed over the past decade?
As always, we will conclude with a reflection on leadership and diversity. As the CIO role increasingly requires influence, stakeholder management, empathy, diplomacy, and long-term thinking, are organisations beginning to value a broader set of leadership styles? And does this create new opportunities for women aspiring to the role?

The Nine

Opened in September 2021, The Nine is Belgium's first female-focused members’ club. Named for the nine muses of the ancient world, The Nine is a community that believes in being our own muse, and a source of change and inspiration.

With an exclusive clubhouse and garden,  members and guests are invited to enjoy the many spaces of the house throughout the day – from co-working areas and meeting rooms, to an all-female & non-binary library, plus in-house bar and restaurant.

The Nine organises a large number of cultural, professional, and social events throughout the year. The aim is to inspire and empower their members by putting women at the centre of the gender equality conversation.
