When cyber-criminals tampered with a water treatment facility in Oldsmar City, Florida in February this year, they were able to remotely control a computer to change the chemical levels of the water supply, endangering an entire population. Never has such a cyber incident exposed more visibly the vulnerability of physical assets to digital warfare. Today, anything ‘with a chip’ such as a sensor or control valve is a target for such criminal activity.
