About

IT developers first started using DevOps methods and tools on-prem well before their journey to cloud began. Most have built up a wide collection of DevOp tools such as Jenkins and Jira, many of which are difficult to migrate to a cloud-native environment. Barriers can often include inflexible vendor contracts, regulation and security issues, data interchange and more.

As organisations adopt a cloud-first policy, developers are wrestling with transferring legacy DevOp tools which can slow down migration and add cost. Gitlab believes that the best solution is to adopt a single platform to replace a diversity of tooling. The challenges include:

  • Identifying what legacy DevOps tooling exists today on-prem
  • Readying such tooling and applications for a cloud-native environment
  • Seeking an appropriate platform to enable a smooth migration
  • Justifying the costs of such legacy modernisation

Join Gitlab with a select group of your industry peers at a virtual wine tasting event on 26th July to discuss your experience with DevOps tool migration. Ralf Gronkowski, Gitlab’s EMEA market lead, will provide an overview of the issues facing CIOs in this area. Roger Camrass of CIONET will host the meeting. As with all CIONET events we believe that this will help empower you in your digital leadership role.
