About

The NHS is one of the largest industries in our country employing over a million staff, many thousands of ambulances, hospitals and healthcare centres as well as large scale IT infrastructures. Ensuring that patient flows, hospital and IT operations, and security are carbon neutral has become a national priority.

With the advent of telemedicine, hybrid working and robotic process automation there are numerous ways to reduce the NHS’s carbon footprint. The question is how to mobilise an organisation of this scale to make the necessary transformational changes to its ways of working.

This discussion evening will examine progress towards carbon neutrality including the current initiatives in place to improve patient flow, operational efficiency and security. Issues to be discussed include:

  • How can patient flow be optimised to reduce carbon emissions and associated waste?
  • What techniques can be exploited to improve hospital and healthcare operations such as IoT and robotics?
  • How might NHS staff function more effectively in a hybrid world, for example, employing telemedicine techniques to monitor patients
Citrix invites you to attend an executive roundtable on the 7 April at 18:00 in the Bleeding Heart Bistro. Citrix is a pace setter in sustainability and distributed working practices. Citrix, will lead the conversation around how IT can contribute to sustainability within the NHS. Roger Camrass of CIONET will host the meeting. As with all CIONET events we believe that this will help empower you in your digital leadership role.
