With the explosion in Software as a Service (SaaS) offers, complex licensing terms and conditions and the productization of existing software assets, management challenges have escalated dramatically over the last two decades. Most large organisations have thousands of such assets and services, but few have full visibility. At the end of the day, the CIO has all the responsibility for managing such assets but must cope with distributed ownership.
In the first CIO Circle event of 2023, we will discuss how effective management of all software assets can be achieved. We will share experiences on the following issues:

A pioneer of today’s Internet in the seventies (at MIT) Roger Camrass has been helping organisations across the Globe harness the power of new technologies and methods for over five decades.
As a thought leader, business executive and part time academic, Roger has introduced a succession of innovations including digital networking in the seventies, outsourcing and call centres in the eighties, business reengineering and third generation mobile networks in the nineties, e-commerce in 2000 and more recently cloud and 5G.
Krati Laad is a Partner with Business Consulting and leads Software Asset Management (SAM) Solutions for EY UK&I region. She has been with the firm for over 16 years now and has two decades of experience, working closely with clients across different technology risk areas. In her role as SAM practice leader, she is focusing on client’s challenges around control, compliances and cost of software assets, and focusing on EY Consulting solutions to solve these, across different sectors.
Krati has led multiple engagements around SAM transformational journeys for several large clients including design and implementation of global SAM framework, formulating policies and procedures, architecting inventory baseline, automation & digitization of current compliance reporting, etc. She has extensively worked with the clients in driving technology spend contracts renewals and formulating negotiation strategies on the back of SAM licensing and contractual saving levers, assisting in realizing optimization/savings as a part of multiple software publishers contracts management programs.
Together, EY and CIONET combine to host a quarterly circle where Digital leaders are able to discuss their experiences of business and technology, joined by guest speakers, to equip one-another to break out of value traps and play a leading role in reinventing business for the digital era in the UK&I.
