About

Our planet is facing an environmental crisis as temperatures continue to rise. IT is a growing
contributor to global warming with some eight million data centres and over two billion
power hungry devices. The UK government has already legislated for zero emissions so what
can we as an IT community do to help minimise carbon emissions?
The COVID pandemic has demonstrated that distributed working, enabled by IT, is an
important part of the solution – enabling us to travel less but do more. The move from on-
prem data centres to public cloud is making a substantial difference too, with Google, AWS
and Microsoft all committed to using renewable energy sources and delivering carbon
negative strategies.
Citrix invites you to attend a virtual event on the 3 September. Citrix is a pace setter in
sustainability and distributed working practices. Per Ove, of Citrix Sweden, will lead the
conversation around how IT can contribute to sustainability. Roger Camrass of CIONET will
host the meeting. As with all CIONET events we believe that this will help empower you in
your digital leadership role.
