About

Is Low-Code offering the  panacea to all software development challenges?  Low-Code claims to enable coding on a small scale with lower budgets, in a fast and flexible way, in co-creation mode between business and IT. Introducing low code would allow keeping the core systems clean by developing custom interfaces and functionalities apart, thus bringing in the agility and the room for innovation the organisation is looking for. It would dramatically reduce the complexity of software development, speed up the process of building applications and help your IT team to better respond to fast evolving business or user needs.

Gert Vanhaecht is the Director of the IT Department of Belfius Bank. His team is responsible for the different banking and beyond banking business applications (Digital Channels, Payments, Credits, Securities, Financial Markets & Referential Systems). Belfius has a  strong track record of Low code development, mainly of applications for the use by the banking agencies. Gert will elaborate on the role of low code development within the bank’s IT-strategy in which core banking systems (even on mainframe) have to interact with fastly evolving applications for the use of the agencies or even (mobile) end user applications.

Sami Chabbah is Director Digital Channels at Proximus, the leading Belgian telecom provider. Sami will bring the story of a ‘super app’ Proximus is developing in Low code in close collaboration with partners and suppliers. He will explain how low code is a key enabler of aggregation and integration, on a technical and organisational level and how they have a clear allocation of roles and responsibilities between the business versus the IT team in that context.
