Cécile Gonfroid is General Director Technologies & Exploitation at RTBF
The growing interweaving of media and the convergence of audiovisual and ict-technologies impelled the RTBF in 2009 to create a unit “Technologies et exploitation”. Cécile Gonfroid was appointed to lead this unit, due to her organizational skills and her involvement in the field. Her first challenge was to establish a solid organization: finding people, defining processes and projects, capable of tracking the continuously evolving audiovisual media, or better yet, staying ahead of them. This means as well deciding on methodology, governance, catalogues of tools and services. Immediately, several technological projects were started, including a centralized datacenter and an optimization of the ict infrastructure (architecture, full IP network, storage systems based on a proper metadata model). Considering the stormy seas the media have to ride, much attention was paid to a strict budgetary discipline, as well as well managed investments and people resources.
Today, the role of Cécile Gonfroid is evolving from change management and operations towards more strategic missions. Her position as referent and sponsor of projects is strengthening in the management committee, considering that today “technology is the main engine of an enterprise strategy.”
