Koen Van Loo is CIO of Renson.
If someone has networking and multitasking in his DNA, it certainly must be Koen Van Loo, ICT Director of the social services group ADMB. His solid number one position in the list of ‘most followed’ CIOs on Twitter is ample proof of this, with a score that’s one and a half time better than his nearest challenger. Furthermore, he is one of the four members of the highest management committee. “This strategic decision was taken ages ago, considering the importance of ICT to the group and the sector of HR services.” Van Loo earned a degree of commercial ICT engineering at the Catholic University of Leuven, and has always paid great attention to business aspects, quite more than the average IT specialist.
After starting his career at the Caritas Administrative Centre, he joined the ADMB group in 1999. It was on his watch that in the past years, ADMB’s software offering, and particularly the payroll application, was completely reworked and adapted to the newest market requirements, such as ‘e-gov’ and more interaction with customers and users (including self-service and mobile access). Van Loo has also demonstrated an active outreach interest, both with his CIO peers (in CIONET) as in the community where ADMB has its roots. That is why he has a seat on the Board of the business centres of the Ostend and Bruges areas, “a part of our social mission”. Fortunately, he views all this networking as a leisure activity.
